They are considered safe and natural cosmetic dermal fillers that instantly restore volume and fullness to the skin to improve the appearance of facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane® and Restylane Silk® are three of the few cosmetic dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body. This virtually eliminates any risk of an allergic reaction.
Restylane® is called a “filler” because it restores lost volume on the face and neck – a phenomenon that occurs as we age, causing the skin to lose elasticity, to sag, and to form wrinkles.
Unlike Botox® Cosmetic or Dysport®, Restylane® and its sister products Restylane Silk® do not relax underlying muscles. Rather, their plumping effects will enhance volume and add a smoother, more youthful appearance that lasts up to six to twelve months, or even longer.

What is Restylane Silk?
Restylane Silk is a hyaluronic acid filler designed to add subtle volume and definition to the lips as well as soften the appearance of perioral lip lines. It’s formulated with a proprietary filler technology from Allergan, which allows less hyaluronic acid to be used in each injection. With a smaller hyaluronic acid particle size, we’re able to treat ultra fine lines without “over-filling” the area for a result that looks natural. At Prime Med Spa, we use a skilled, careful hand to inject the area around your mouth just enough to smooth vertical wrinkles and subtly enhance your pout. No one will even know you’ve had work done!
Am I a good candidate for Restylane Silk?
Restylane® is primarily recommended for men and women with moderate to severe lines and wrinkles on the face that do not merit a facelift or other cosmetic surgery.

Your Restylane® Consultation
Your consultation will allow you to show Dr. Singer what areas you wish to correct and to describe how you would like to look. He will then examine your skin and give you an assessment of what is possible, while keeping a natural look after your treatment.He may suggest more than one type of dermal filler or even surgery, in some cases. The final choice, of course, is yours. Dr. Singer’s goal is to give you all the information you need to make an informed decision about the best procedure(s) for you.
The Restylane® Procedure
Restylane® injections are an outpatient treatment, so you can go home immediately. We will apply a topical numbing cream, and Restylane® contains Lidocaine in order to further reduce discomfort. The needle used is tiny, however, so the injections are well-tolerated.
Your session will only take 15-30 minutes, and you will begin to see some results immediately. The full results can gradually be seen after about a week.

Recovery from Restylane® Injections
You can resume normal activities right away, but you may notice some swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection sites. These symptoms are generally mild and will go away within a few days. In the meantime, you can use makeup or bronzer to cover up any slight discoloration.

Is Restylane Silk effective anywhere else in the face?
Restylane Silk can add volume to and smooth out nasolabial folds, marionette lines (the lines that extend from your mouth to your chin), and horizontal chin lines.* We can recommend additional products depending on your goals.
How long will my results last?
Restylane Silk is expected to last between 6 months and one year depending on the amount injected. People with very active lifestyles naturally metabolize fillers more quickly.
How old should I be when I get my first Restylane Silk treatment?
Everyone gets nasolabial folds at different times. If you laugh and smile a lot, you’ll likely get them earlier in life. Most individuals see the earliest hints of laugh lines by their early twenties. Restylane Silk is FDA-approved for adults over 21, though we often have patients who wait until their 30s, 40s, and 50s before coming in for their first treatment.
