Breast implant revision surgery is designed to alter a previous breast augmentation for a variety of reasons. Maybe you opted for large implants but have realized maybe you went a little too large. Other concerns, such as capsular contracture and implant movement are just some of the conditions that may require a breast implant revision procedure. Strattice™ and the internal bra technique are two innovative surgical solutions that help better address these concerns and get the body contouring results you set out to achieve.
What is Strattice™?
Strattice™ is a biological mesh material derived from porcine tissue. This sterile mesh not only helps to reinforce and support soft tissue during breast implant revision, but it also helps reduce inflammation, promote healthy tissue regeneration, and lower the potential risk of infection. In cases where your previous breast augmentation is causing rippling, Strattice can help provide extra thickness to reduce rippling. In cases of capsular contracture, the use of Strattice can protect against the buildup of scar tissue.
In cases of symmastia (breasts coming together in the middle of the chest) and implant shifting into the armpit, Strattice mesh helps stabilize the implant placement, providing additional support to weakened tissue. It is often used in addition to the internal bra technique to better ensure implant placement.
What Is the Internal Bra Technique?
The internal bra technique is a surgical technique designed to help support the placement of breast implants. Similar to a push-up bra, Strattice mesh is used along the lower portion of the breast, creating a frame that lifts and stabilizes the implant placement. Sutures then work to close a section of the breast pocket, ensuring the breast implant stays in the ideal location.
