DYSPORT
Dysport® is a trademark of a medication that works like Botox®. It is injected into the skin to safely interfere with the nerve impulses that cause facial muscles to contract and create wrinkles. These lines and wrinkles often form as a result of repeated facial expressions so that the muscles remain contracted even at rest.
The main difference between Botox® and Dysport® is that Dysport® tends to spread a bit more when it is injected. In some instances, this is an advantage, while in other cases, it is not preferred. Dr. Singer is skilled at carefully examining your skin and determining the best injectable to achieve the look you want.
Who Needs Dysport Injections?
If you are developing lines and wrinkles on your forehead or around the eyes, Dysport could be a good solution for regular treatments to maintain a smoother, younger look.
Dysport® can treat
- “11” lines between your eyebrows that can make you look angry or worried
- Horizontal wrinkles on the forehead
- Lines around the eyes that form when you smile
- Excessive sweating of the armpits (hyperhidrosis)
Your Dysport Consultation
During your time in consultation with Dr. Singer, he will listen to your concerns and examine your skin to determine the best treatment to achieve your goals. If he concludes that Dysport is a good choice for you, he will answer all of your questions to ensure that you are confident about your decision.
He may, of course, recommend Botox instead of Dysport or a different injectable or procedure. If so, he will explain exactly why. His goal is always to help you feel at ease about your upcoming treatment.
The Dysport Procedure
Dysport is a very quick procedure that usually takes only 5-10 minutes. There is a very temporary mild discomfort from the tiny needle that is used to inject the Dysport material. Dr. Singer will apply a topical anesthetic to minimize your discomfort, and we may also use ice packs after your treatment if you wish.
You can expect to see gradual improvement for up to 7 days, and your results should last 3-4 months.
Recovery from Dysport Injections
You can return to work and other normal activities direct from our office after your Dysport treatment. Most people do not experience bruising after Dysport, but a few patients do. This symptom generally resolves within 3-5 days.
Otherwise, we simply ask that you not exercise for 24 hours after your treatment.
