The Quanta Forte Diode Laser is a chilled handpiece, cooling itself down to -12C, which means less discomfort and less risk of side effects to you. It is the most advanced hair removal laser on the market today, and treatments are performed safely by our trained registered nurse or on-site physician. Treatments can be performed every 3-6 weeks depending on body area.
The patient is asked to wear eye protection consisting of an opaque covering or goggles. The area to be treated is then shaved. A small handpiece, or “wand” is placed against the skin and a burst of coolant is applied as the laser is activated. The handpiece is repositioned and the laser is activated again. The size or the area treated will determine the number of laser activations, or “pulses”, required. The laser procedure takes anywhere from 10 mins to 1 hour depending on the areas treated. Generally no anesthesia is used.

Laser Hair Removal vs. Waxing, Shaving, & Plucking
In order to achieve results the patient must let their hair grow out about one quarter of an inch (approximately 3-4 weeks of hair growth). With laser hair removal the patient can shave daily but waxing must not performed within 3 weeks prior to treatment. Shaving is recommended before the procedure.
Shaving, waxing and plucking can keep an area hair-free for up to 6 weeks at the most and will likely be back sooner than 2 weeks. These hair removal techniques tend to stimulate hair growth and cause hairs to grow back darker and thicker whereas with laser hair removal we can expect that somewhere between 60 and 95 percent of the treated hair will be gone.

Laser hair removal is a procedure which removes hair from the body utilizing a long pulse laser. The laser emits heat, which disables follicles from producing hair. Since lasers target pigment, treatments are most effective on dark, coarse hair.
Before the treatment, patients should not remove hair with the root using any other hair removal method for at least 6 weeks prior to their first session. This allows the laser to burn the follicle from the root. The area to be treated should be shaved one day prior to your appointment. Treatments vary in length depending on desired area. Underarms take under 10 minutes, while full legs can take up to an hour. After the treatment, it is recommended that patients apply an ice pack and/or cooled aloe vera gel to help soothe the skin. For most patients, shedding of hair will start 3 weeks following the treatment.
Most patients require anywhere from 6 to 8 treatments spaced 3-6 weeks apart. Shedding of hair should take place approximately 3 weeks after treatment. Once it starts to regrow, patients should come in for their next session.
Laser hair removal can remove the majority of coarse hair on a body area, but it may not get rid of finer hair. Generally, you will be able to tell how much reduction was achieved after waiting about 6 months after the last treatment.
This process is not painful for most patients, although it may cause slight discomfort for some. Many describe the sensation as that of a rubber band snapping against the skin for a quick second.
